Located in West Seattle, this 1903 house had suffered through 30 years of insensitive remodeling prior to its reconstruction in 1998.  The street facade was rebuilt in a historically sympathetic manner while more liberties were taken with the other elevations.

The house has a 180-degree view of Puget Sound and a dramatic view of downtown Seattle.  The interior was configured to acknowledge this latter view by twisting the large bay window, the fireplace, and the cable lighting on axis with downtown Seattle.

The interior detailing is a stylized version of its historical counterpart.  The slate flooring and counters, bamboo flooring, and the painted walls and trim provide a simple backdrop for the views that are at the heart of this house.
The general contractor was Kinetic Construction.

Completed autumn 1998.
